![]() Happy Memorial Day! I went out to Stone Mountain Park tonight to see the Lasershow Spectacular. I wasn't planning on going, but decided to do so because I thought they would have a great Memorial Day display. And they did. In addition to the regular songs/performances (my favorite is the Celestial Soda Pop) they perform at the show (I've been at least twenty times in my life), they had a special dedication to the armed forces today. I didn't bring a tripod, so all of the images I captured were shot hand-held, at high ISO, at a wide-open aperture. The image seen in today's entry was captured with the Canon 5D + Canon 35mm f/1.4L combination at f/1.4, ISO 1600, for 1/2 seconds (it's slightly blurry at full resolution). I think this may be my best shot of the night, as my fireworks shots didn't really turn out that well (I should have dialed down that ISO to 200 or 400, since I was shooting wide open throughout the night; or, of course, I could have stopped down the aperture). Noticeable in the front is a man holding his child; I thought this was a nice element, adding some perspective to the shot. How did you celebrate (if you did?) your Memorial Day 2010? ### Note: I have a season pass to Stone Mountain Park, so I can go whenever I want (I mention this because the park is a wonderful place for portraiture photography). In 2010, the Lasershow Spectacular is at 9:30 every day until August 8. See the complete schedule here. |
