![]() In yesterday's post, I mentioned how I was both an observer and a participant in Georgia Tech's Fall 2009 Commencement ceremony. I outlined three reasons why I chose not to walk among my peers (choosing instead to photograph the graduation from the stands). Since yesterday's entry, I've posted a full gallery of the 2009 Commencement Ceremony on Flickr. I mentioned that I graduated with a Master's degree in Quantitative and Computational Finance. Along the way, I have taken courses in Finances & Investments, Design and Implementation of Systems to Support Computational Finance (programming in C and Java), Derivatives Securities, Numerical Methods in Finance, Stochastic Processes in Finance, Fixed Income Securities, Statistical Techniques of Financial Data Analysis, Management of Financial Institutions (a course on risk management), Practice of Quantitative and Computational Finance, and elective courses such as International Finance and Private Equity & Entrepreneurial Finance. After completing this one and a half year program, I have acquired a solid base in financial engineering. I just wasn't able to find a full-time job. It's been tough (not just for me, but for others in my graduating class as well). I intend to press on with the job search through the end of this month and into January, if need be. If you're willing and able to help (perhaps you know a recruiter, someone that works in the financial sector, or even if you are a great motivational speaker), please let me know. We could all use some encouragement this holiday season... About this photo: I captured it after graduation was completed and people were leaving Alexander Memorial Coliseum. I had not put away my camera, and I noticed this man standing by himself, looking through the fence. Perhaps he was just taking a smoking break. Maybe he was waiting for someone. I don't know for certain. But it was a photo worth capturing, not least because it seems to have lined up with my personal feelings that evening. Note: it's back to regular postings from my travels tomorrow. I also plan to announce about the free print giveaway in the coming days. Also, I am going to do my best to post every day for the rest of this month. Until next time, thanks for your visit and support! |
