![]() Seen in today's entry is an overview of the Austrian city of Salzburg. I captured this image about one hour after photographing “Salzburg Screening.” However, I captured this image from the other side of the Salzach River. It is a single exposure, captured at f/8 for twenty seconds with the Canon 5D and the 17-40 f/4L lens. In the background, at center, sitting on Festungsberg hill, you can clearly see the Hohensalzburg Castle (Festung Hohensalzburg, which translates to 'High Salzburg Fortress' in German). It is one of the largest (length of 250 meters and a width of 150 meters) and oldest (construction of the fortress began in 1077 under Archbishop Gebhard von Helfensteinmedieval) castles in Europe. I didn't get to go inside, but I certainly admired the views of the castle from my walking tour around Salzburg. At left is a pedestrian bridge named in honor of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who was born in Salzburg. I captured a few photos of the bridge up close, and I'll post at least one image in a future photoblog post. Note: my entire gallery from Austria is here. ### If you enjoyed this post, please consider leaving a comment, subscribing to the feed of Erudite Expressions, joining my facebook page, voting for Erudite Expressions in the 2009 Photoblog Awards, and/or adding me as a contact on Flickr. |
