![]() One week ago today, Georgia Tech played a football game against its arch rival, the University of Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia Tech lost, but there was still something to smile about that night. Indeed, even though we lost that game, it was important for the Jackets to keep their heads high and prepare for their ACC Championship Game against Clemson. That game was tonight at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The Clemson Tigers got off to a quick start, with C.J. Spiller (ACC player of the year) running for a touchdown less than four minutes into the first quarter. C.J. Spiller would go on to have an absolutely incredible game, rushing for 233 yards and four touchdowns (going for 3, 41, 36, and 9 yards, respectively). At the end of the third quarter, the Yellow Jackets led 33-20. But Clemson came out strong in the fourth quarter, scoring two consecutive touchdowns, and taking a 34-33 lead. On its last drive of the game, Georgia Tech marched 86 yards in 13 plays to regain the lead. Jonathan Dwyer ran for a 15-yard touchdown with 1:20 remaining to give the Yellow Jackets a 39-34 lead. It might have been better if the Jackets took more time to wind down the clock, but as Coach Paul Johnson said, “You can't tell the kid not to score.” Georgia Tech then went for a two point conversion, but Josh Nesbitt's lunge into the endzone was overturned by the officials. With a 39-34 lead, the Jackets still needed to stop the Tigers on their last possession. The Tigers fell short on their last possession, and with that stop, the Yellow Jackets secured the 2009 ACC Championship. Now the Yellow Jackets are bound for the FedEx Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida. Congratulations to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on this victory and their 2009 ACC Championship! Did you watch the game on ESPN? Better yet, were you at the game? What are your thoughts on this victory? ### NOTE: This image is now the latest one in my Georgia Tech gallery.
