Seen here is Gran Vía crosswalk in Madrid, Spain.

Gran Vía is known as Madrid's Broadway; it's constantly flooded with tourists, motorists, and locals. In a word: bustling. If you've been a follower of Erudite Expressions for a while, you might remember I previously featured an image of Gran Vía by night.

I captured this particular shot during midday from the balcony of the hotel's sixth floor. I used my Canon 5D and the 100mm macro lens for this capture (ISO 250, f/4.5, at 1/1250 seconds).

A few things about this shot grab my attention:
1) The taxi lane on the right. What do you think that “X” represents on the back of the taxi which has managed to move about a quarter of the way into the crosswalk? I posted a close-up of the taxi here.
2) The long shadows. Can you tell what time of day the photo was captured based on the length of the shadows?
3) The juxtaposition of peacefulness and hurry: note the people on the top right of the frame, sitting down for lunch. They're relaxing, appearing to be drinking some wine or some other sort of beverage.
4) The man on the motorcycle who joins the crowd in traversing the busy street. Do you see him?

What about the image grabs your attention? Are you drawn to any particular portion of the image?

Note: I hadn't posted a B&W shot in a while, but you can see my entire gallery of B&W images here.
