Seen in today's entry is another image I captured prior to the UGA vs. Georgia Tech football game on 11/28/09.

I lined up at Yellow Jacket Alley in a prime spot, ready to photograph the football team, the coaches (including CPJ), and the cheerleaders as they passed. The procession came at around 6:30PM, and by this time, it was already dark outside. I ended up switching to a fully manual exposure setting on my Canon 5D: ISO 1600, f/4, and 1/40 seconds.

Using the Canon 17-40 f/4L was helpful in this situation, as I was about one to two feet away from the procession at any moment in time. For this capture, the 1/40 seconds exposure turned out well: fast enough to get the detail in the faces of the cheerleaders (especially the one at center), but slow enough to show the motion of the pom-pons.

On a technical note: this image is full of noise, but I thought it was worth posting for its aesthetic merit. There's a lot of activity in this photo (is that girl at left sticking out her tongue?), reminiscent of the jubilant atmosphere outside Bobby Dodd Stadium just prior to the game.

Note: my entire Georgia Tech related gallery is here. Also, if you know the girls featured in this photo, do leave a comment, and I'll update this post.
