![]() What's the first thing you notice upon observing this image? Is it the two girls framed at center? Perhaps you glance at the man bending, on the left side of the frame. Or maybe your eyes dart toward that man dressed in pink trunks in the distance, to the left off center. This was an interesting shot to frame, as I had to bend down a bit to get most of the people in the background to fit between the top two bars of the fence. I captured this shot on the boardwalk at Coney Island. Take a look at the two girls sitting on the bench, looking out toward the ocean. Does anything seem peculiar? Well, you will think so after you see the original of this shot. In post-processing, I pulled the shadows in a certain direction, in order to bring contrast to the scene. In the process, the girl at the left (who was actually looking downwards), turned out to look toward the distance. I much prefer the post-processed shot (the original is here), as it tells a more interesting story, but I'd be curious to hear what you think. Note: my entire gallery from New York City is here. ### In other news: 1) I received a disappointing email this morning, letting me know that Erudite Expressions isn't going to be included in a certain collection of blogs. The reason? I have a commercial aspect to this site (i.e., the ability to purchase prints). 2) The neatest thing I've seen all day: Pablo Picasso's painting Guernica explored in 3D. 3) Outside of photography, I also study finance (I am still looking for a job).
