![]() When visiting the Louvre Museum in Paris, it is essential to look above you. The ceilings there are magnificent. I captured this image on my way to see the Mona Lisa. To get this shot, I placed my Canon 5D (attached to the Canon 17-40 f/4L lens, set at 17mm) on the ground and set off the exposure using the ten second timer. I must have looked pretty silly because I didn't have a way of checking whether the exposure would work out or not. I would capture the shot, take a look at how it turned out, and adjust my camera's position on the ground, as necessary. It took about ten tries to get the image you see in today's entry. Was it worth it? The image is actually a single exposure rather than a high dynamic range image. I tried my best working with the single exposure, but there are still a few things which could have turned out better (example: not overexposing the light coming in through the windows). If someone orders a print of this image (reminder: there are still two ongoing print sales; details are here and here), I will work on this image some more before sending it off to the printing press. The Louvre is, arguably, the most famous museum in the world. It's been on my top museums to visit ever since I was twelve. What's your favourite museum in the world? Have you ever been to the Louvre? If you like this image, check out my France gallery here. In other news: 1) I mentioned that I was going to post an image from an event at Georgia Tech last week, but I think I will save that entry for Friday or Saturday, and continue posting one or two more images from the Louvre instead. 2) If you like my work, consider subscribing to the RSS feed, becoming a fan on facebook, and/or voting for Erudite Expressions in the 2009 Photoblog Awards. |
