![]() A few weeks ago, I photographed the engagement session of Meg and Ian, who are pictured in today's entry. Meg is a high school friend, and she contacted me about photography after she saw some of the posts which I had exported as notes from my RSS feed (Meg wrote to me about my photoblog posts: 'I'm glad you include it on Facebook—otherwise I never would have seen it'). After exchanging a few emails about what wedding photography entails, we decided to arrange an engagement session. Meg mentioned that she wanted to pick a location for the engagement session that was sentimental and significant. This location turned out to be the backyard of her parents' house. I mentioned to Meg that I preferred to shoot in the evening light, and so we did exactly that. The session consisted of three parts: outdoor shooting in the backyard, indoor shooting of Meg with her bridesmaids dresses which Meg has worn over the years to other weddings, and Meg's interaction with her mom's wedding dress in the attic (this set of images will remain in secrecy until the wedding day). The image in today's entry was captured outdoors, and I love the prominent lens flare in this shot. Don't you think Meg and Ian are positively glowing here? This is definitely one of my favourites from the session, but there were so many images from this outdoor session that turned out spectacularly! This week has been an amazing week for me in terms of timing of my posts (I especially recommend reading this one). So how is the timing of this post appropriate? Well, it's because Meg and Ian are getting married exactly one year from today! (fun note: Meg calls today her minus first year anniversary of her wedding day). On September 4, 2010 Ian and Meg will become husband and wife at the beautiful Villa Serena near Conyers, GA. Meg and Ian have created a fun page on the knot where you can learn more about Meg and Ian, Ian's proposal, and other interesting things. Meg writes about her experience in high school and her path on becoming a teacher: Parkview High School planted the love of teaching in my heart. So many of the staff members truly made an impact on me while I was there. My closest friends from Parkview are still in my life today, and the lessons I learned from all of the classes, sports, and clubs will never leave me. I was so sad to leave... but so excited to move to Athens! At the University of Georgia, I began my pre-med route... then regrouped and began my pre-law route... then panicked and began my business route... then prayed and began my teaching career. One suggestion: if you do read this page, don't believe everything you read, especially the groom's side of the story! As of this writing, the engagement images have been post-processed, the DVD with the images burned, and the prints shipped and delivered. As I mentioned, there were quite a few images from this engagement shoot that turned out quite stellar, so I'll post a few more from Meg and Ian's session in the weeks to come. Stay tuned! It's amazing how fast Meg and Ian have progressed through their wedding planning: they have already booked the ceremony and reception site (Villa Serena), their caterer, and their photographer. I'm honoured and excited to photograph their wedding one year from today. Thanks Meg and Ian! Congratulations! |
