![]() In yesterday's post (which I highly recommend checking out, especially since I updated the post with an inspiring video), I showed the view from the TKTS steps in New York's Time Square. This advertisement for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was shot from the same steps, using the Canon 100mm f/2.8 lens. It's a single exposure (i.e., it is not a high dynamic range image), and I've processed it to give the image a dark and mysterious feel (let me know if you agree or disagree). I saw the movie a few weekends ago, but I must admit that I didn't like it too much. I read all the Harry Potter books when I was in high school, after one of my friends convinced me that they were very interesting. At the time, I refused to read any books by modern writers (in fact, I only read classical literature in those days), but after a lot of prodding, I was convinced and decided to give these books a try. I did enjoy the series very much. These days, my reading habits are a lot more diverse. I try to read between 25 and 50 books every year (so far this year I am on the lower end of that goal). I'm always looking for book recommendations, even if my current to-read list stands at more than fifty books. I am thinking that I will update this photoblog with a special page called 'books' which talks about which books I read. Do you think this is a good idea? I'm currently reading a most excellent book about traveling. I will finish the book early next week, and I will mention it in a photoblog post next week. The next five images I will post will all be from my visit to New York City this summer. You may see a growing collection of images from New York in this gallery. Reminders: 1) The prints blog has been updated to reflect the latest prints promotion (in celebration of the 1,200th post on Erudite Expressions). Also ongoing is the sale for 8'x10' prints. 2) The latest free prints giveaway runs through September 1, 2009. Check out the caption of this post to see how to enter. 3) An exciting announcement is coming on September 1, 2009. |
