After getting to Munich late in the evening last night, today was a full day devoted to exploring Munich (by foot).

During our walk through the city, we came across a parade. After the parade, we headed to Marienplatz, Munich's central square since 1158.

In late afternoon, we headed to Hofgarten, a large garden near the center of Munich. The garden was built from 1613 to 1617 by Maximilian I, Elector of Bavaria as an Italian style Renaissance garden. Seen in the center of the frame is a pavilion (built in 1615 by Heinrich Schön the elder) for the goddess Diana. There are eight paths which lead to the pavilion (it's hard to see that from the photo in today's entry, so do check out this helpful Google Map).

In the evening today, we said goodbye to Munich and headed to the train station to catch the next train. Next stop: Paris, France!
