![]() Continuing with the small series of images I photographed in Tunisia, the image seen in today's entry was captured in a small town known as Sidi Bou Said (Arabic: سيدي بو سعيد). The town is known for its white and blue colours, and especially prominent are its blue doors and windows. Most of the town is in great shape, but I was drawn to this disheveled door. The blue splotches on the ground are from blue paint; interestingly, there is also a blue cap (most likely from a water bottle) on the ground too. In April, I am going to try to post once a day. At the end of every post, I'll highlight one photographer (and/or photoblog) who (which) I find inspiring. Starting off today is Sam Javanrouh's photoblog, Daily Dose of Imagery. Why is his photoblog the first one I highlight? Main reason: it was Sam's photoblog which I discovered first (it must have been around 2004, about two years before I created Erudite Expressions). Sam has posted one image per day (sometimes more than one image per post when the images were on a particular theme, such as zombies), every single day, since July 4, 2003. For him, it all began with a humble fly, and since then, he has posted over 2,000 images on his photoblog. Most of his images are from his hometown of Toronto (he's originally from Tehran, Iran), and some of my favourites of his include 'night clouds,' 'night at the museum,' and 'crystal and light streaks.' Daily Dose of Imagery is what comes to my mind whenever anyone mentions a photoblog, in which there is one image posted daily. If I am not mistaken, Sam has the longest streak for consecutive (daily) photoblog posts on the internet (or if there are others, he's probably the most noted: Sam's photoblog was voted Most Popular Photoblog in 2007). With his dedication and hard work, Sam has inspired countless of other photobloggers (including yours truly) to give it their all day in and day out. |
