I had the chance to go to Savannah, Georgia today. Yes, it was Saint Patrick's Day. Yes, it was pretty crazy over there (especially on River Street). All the hotels were booked except a few hotels about a half mile or more from the Savannah River.

I didn't come for the partying, but to visit the city which I first explored in 1996. It's been so long that I forgot much of its charm. It's amazing that this was my first time visiting Savannah in over twelve years, even though the city is less than five hours by car from where I live.

As for this shot: I thought of naming it 'Savannah Volvo' (that's where I focused with the Canon 5D and the 100mm macro combination) or 'Who's Not Wearing Green?' (see the pedestrians in the center) but decided to go with a more reminiscent title. I captured this shot as I was walking toward River Street. The closer I got to River Street, the more rowdy and unpredictable things became (I am forgoing posting any images I captured on River Street on this photoblog). What I love about this particular shot are the moss-covered trees of the boulevard and the traffic lights suspended in the air, seemingly supported by the trees to which they cling.

Have you ever been to Savannah? If so, what do you like/love about the city?
