![]() Pictured in today's entry are some luxurious yachts at one of the marinas in the city of Palma, the capital of the Balearic Islands of Spain. The longer yacht in the center is Benita Blue, a 110-foot beauty that has an asking price of over €7,000,000 (apparently you can rent it for €70,000 per week). This image is a twenty-five second exposure at f/8. I tried creating an HDR version of this image, but unfortunately, it didn't work too well. I am still having challenges creating great HDR images from nighttime shots. The biggest problem is the noise amplification in the sky, even at low ISO (100 or 200). You can tell that this image isn't an HDR image because there is a bright object in the center left of the image; that object is La Seu, the large cathedral in the center of the city (you can see images of La Seu here and here). I captured this image as I was walking back toward Palma's port. Along the way, I heard a number of very loud horns coming from all over the port. This was the night that Spain and Russia were playing in the 2008 UEFA European Football Semifinals, and of course, everyone in the area was rooting for Spain. To read more about my experience about being in Spain during the tournament, check out this previous post (link). Finally, I have two announcements: 1) I will be posting about the latest prints promotion by the end of the week. Stay tuned. 2) I've made some cosmetic changes to the home page of Erudite Expressions. There are now links to my prints blog, my photos at vfxy photos, and the link for my entry in the 2009 Photoblog Awards (if you haven't already voted for Erudite Expressions, I'd appreciate your vote). Please let me know if you see any errors or things that look strange in terms of the latest layout/links. |
