the stairs ahead | February 18, 2009

I saw these colourful stairs on the island of Capri, off the coast of Italy. The entire island is populated with thousands of tourists, so my goal was to take the beaten path to find some scenes where I could take some photos in peace. I took a turn on this narrow street, walked about two hundred feet, and came across these stairs. I set up my tripod and captured three images, which set up the HDR image you see in today's entry.

I post-processed this image by adding a texture in Photoshop. Does it appear, when looking on the right side of the wall, that you're in a different land? Unwrapping a present, you take the stairs up. You ring the doorbell, and an elderly lady welcomes you into her home, offering you some hot tea and delicious cookies.

And then you wake up.
