This is Passeig Des Born, a wide boulevard in the city of Palma, on the island of Mallorca. For more than a century this fairly short, tree-lined promenade has been the life and soul of the city. During the Franco era it was renamed after the dictator, but everyone still called it 'The Born'. The sphinxes on both sides of the promenade invite you for a stroll down memory lane.

I enjoyed traversing this promenade (multiple times, in fact). It has some upscale shops and restaurants, as well as benches on which you can sit down and relax.

In the center distance is a fountain. Behind where I positioned by camera and tripod is another fountain. It was a great way to spend a summer evening.

To get the twinkle of the lights the way you see in the image, I stopped down my Canon 17-40 f4/L lens to f/20 (it was a thirteen second exposure at ISO 100). As far as post-processing goes, I went with a combination of blue and orange: cold-toned for the ground, while maintaining a degree of warmth for the bright lights.
