I came upon the scene seen in today's entry at the market in Jaffa. Most of the stores have not yet been opened by their respective owners (note the large locks on the door). I think what happened here was one merchant who had an overstuffed store moved some of his merchandise to the side to make it easier to organize his stuff for sale. Indeed, most vendors had most of the material up for sale on the street, next to their store; the inside of those locked gates serves mostly as storage space for the night. The contents would then be removed and organized (in a not too dissimilar manner) the following morning.

On an unrelated note: I am approaching my 1000th post on Erudite Expressions. It will occur sometime around mid-January. To help commemorate the occasion, I will have a contest where I will give away one or two 10 inch by 15 inch prints for free. I have yet to work out the details, but I'll post them here and on my prints blog once I figure things out. Stay tuned.

Those who are already fans of me on facebook are also eligible to enter the contest if they e-mail me.
