So here we go - last image for the year 2008. It's been a wild year, a year that will not soon be forgotten. From the U.S. Presidential election to the financial crisis that has rocked the world, perhaps one word to characterize 2008 would be 'turbulent.'

In today's entry, one can see the approaching storm over the Mediterranean Sea. In the distance, is the Orot Rabin (Hebrew: אורות רבין‎, translated as Rabin Lights) Power Station, the largest power station in Israel (the plant burns 18,000 tons of coal every day and uses 320,000 tons of seawater every hour). There is a lot going on in this image: the waves pounding the rocks, the sun penetrating through the clouds at center right (creating beautiful sunbeams), and the flock of birds flying near the chimneys of the Orot Rabin.

Minutes after I captured this image, the wind picked up further and it started to rain. However, the storm was short-lived: the wind died down, the clouds dissipated, and the sun illuminated the landscape once more.
