![]() Today we set off toward the Golan Heights - a geographic area which lies within, or borders, the countries of Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria. The Golan Heights were undisputed Syrian territory until Israel captured the region on June 9 and 10, 1967 during the Six-Day War. The area has remained under Israeli control since then. The territory was successfully defended by Israel in the 1973 Yom Kippur War. Originally our plan was to climb one of the hills to see the Syrian bunkers. However, the conditions were non-optimal for climbing (rainy, windy, and foggy). The view seen in today's entry is of the stormy conditions we experienced; in the distance is Syria. The image in today's entry is an HDR, composed of three bracketed exposures. To see my entire HDR gallery, click here. |
