Today we visited Mount Herzl, (Hebrew: הר הרצל‎), a hilltop and national cemetery in Jerusalem, Israel named for Theodor Herzl, the founder of modern political Zionism. Herzl's tomb lies at the top of the hill. We walked to the cemetery after visiting Yad Vashem (Holocaust Museum).

Mt. Herzl is the burial place of three of Israel's prime ministers: Levi Eshkol, Golda Meir, and Yitzhak Rabin. Israel's main military cemetery is located on the northern slope of Mt. Herzl. Soldiers who were living in the Jerusalem area and have fallen in the line of duty are buried there.

Due to the sanctity of the place, I was conservative in the number of photos I captured there. The image seen in today's entry was taken near the entrance to the cemetery.
