![]() Today the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets played the #23 Miami Hurricanes in a nationally televised game (on ESPN). The theme of the game was a 'whiteout,' in which Georgia Tech students and fans were asked to dress in a white. It was a chilly night for a football game, especially where I was sitting - high in the upper deck where wind gusts were stronger than on the lower levels. The image seen in today's entry was shot from near the top of the North Avenue stands. The game was excellent for the Yellow Jackets. Paul Johnson's triple option plays were executed flawlessly, and Georgia Tech ran for a whopping 472 yards (the second-most ever allowed by the Miami Hurricanes since they gave up 536 yards to Auburn in 1944). Jonathan Dwyer ran for 128 yards despite playing only the first half. Two other players, wingback Roddy Jones and quarterback Josh Nesbitt), just missed giving the Yellow Jackets three 100-yard rushers (with 97 and 93 yards rushing, respectively). Georgia Tech outgained Miami in total yards 518-388. The Hurricanes trailed 27-3 before finally scoring a touchdown midway through the third quarter. Final score in Atlanta tonight: Georgia Tech 41, Miami 23. |
