The recent downfall of the stock market has left a lot of people feeling bearish about the economy. It seems like 'sell, sell, sell' has become the tune of Wall Street as of late. As a result, there are quite a few bargains out there. One has to remain optimistic that things will recover (though it might take some time). Here is Warren Buffet in the latest New York Times opinion piece on the state of the U.S. economy and American stocks:
A simple rule dictates my buying: Be fearful when others are greedy, and be greedy when others are fearful. And most certainly, fear is now widespread, gripping even seasoned investors. To be sure, investors are right to be wary of highly leveraged entities or businesses in weak competitive positions. But fears regarding the long-term prosperity of the nation’s many sound companies make no sense. These businesses will indeed suffer earnings hiccups, as they always have. But most major companies will be setting new profit records 5, 10 and 20 years from now.

Let me be clear on one point: I can’t predict the short-term movements of the stock market. I haven’t the faintest idea as to whether stocks will be higher or lower a month — or a year — from now. What is likely, however, is that the market will move higher, perhaps substantially so, well before either sentiment or the economy turns up
.

Speaking of bargains, have you read how you may purchase a print from this photoblog for a penny? I linked to my prints blog yesterday, which briefly described the latest promotion (link). Here is the link again: http://printsbyeugene.com.

So far, not one person has taken advantage of this offer, which either means one of three things: (1) people think this offer can't be real (rest assured that it is) or (2) there isn't any demand for my prints or (3) the economy is so bad right now, people are saving on anything and everything if they can help it.

I want to believe that (3) is the most likely explanation. Still, I have to think more about marketing and promotion. Anyone have some book recommendations?
