![]() I saw this very cool doll house on sale in Barcelona, Spain. Today's image is a combination of the Canon 5D and the Canon 100mm macro lens which shows some detail of one of the balconies in that doll house. While on the topic of doll houses, here's an interesting tidbit of the day. In 1879, Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen completed his famous play, Et dukkehjem. The most common English translation is A Doll's House (which I've read). However, some (many?) scholars believe that A Doll House is the more accurate translation of the original Norwegian. Considered one of the first, if not the first, feminist play, Et dukkehjem is critical of 19th Century marriage norms. One reason A Doll House may be the proper translation of Ibsen's play is that scholars feel that this title is more suggestive of the doll-like qualities of the entire cast of characters. |
