Today's adventure included visiting the Alhambra in Granada, Spain. Once the residence of the Muslim kings of Granada and their court, the Alhambra is now Spain's most visited tourist destination, even exceeding the number of tourists that visit the Prado Museum in Madrid. Of course, I will post images from the Alhambra in the coming days.

In the afternoon, we set course toward the Costa del Sol (Coast of the Sun), in southern Spain. We made it to the picturesque town of Torremolinos in the early afternoon.

In the evening, there was an optional excursion to a town of Mijas, located on a mountaintop, almost 500 meters above sea level. It was quite beautiful there - not only for the breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea, but for the quaintness of this little town. The image seen in today's entry is the tiny bullring in Mijas. The bullring wasn't open to the public, but I thought the bullring's exterior deserved a capture. The image is an HDR, composed of three bracketed exposures.

Today, July 1, was also my mom's birthday. After visiting Mijas, we drove toward La Carihuela (about two kilometers from Torremolinos) and had an amazing four-course dinner overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The dinner was fabulous: unlimited drinks (soft drinks and wine), live music, and for main course - the best fish I've ever tasted.
