![]() I captured this HDR image of coin-operated binoculars at Daytona Pier (click here for its image) on a morning when the rain clouds were dominating the sky. About a half hour after I captured this shot, the rain clouds cleared, and it was a beautiful day at the beach. Departing from my recent HDR shots, this HDR is created from not three - but five - bracketed exposures, set at 1 EC increments starting at -2 EC and going to +2 EC. I decided to use five bracketed shots for this HDR because I knew that the end result would look absolutely spectacular. After the tone-mapping in Photomatix Pro, I brought in this shot into Photoshop CS3 and performed such adjustments as cloning out (distracting) people on the beach, straightening the horizon, and desaturating the colourful buildings in the background so that the viewer is primarily focused on the coin-operated binoculars (fifty cents to operate; quarters only are accepted) in the center of the frame. Thanks to some Flickr friends who pointed out that straightening out the horizon would make this shot great. Also a big thanks to some friends who have been promoting my work, such as Klara, Chelsea, and John. The latest HDR work is some of my best work to date, and so far it's been a great journey of discovery. Last tidbit of the day: there are only nine days left to take advantage of the two year anniversary sale currently in progress at Erudite Expressions. Right now, I am offering two 8 inch by 12 inch prints + two 4 inch by 6 inch prints for just $20 (the price includes shipping in the United States). After June 15, my regular prices will take effect ($25 for a single 8 inch by 12 inch print). You can learn more about this promotion by clicking here. |
