![]() In Greek Mythology, Poseidon (in Greek: Ποσειδῶν) was the god of the sea, horses, and earthquakes. Traditionally, Poseidon is usually featured with a trident, which he was given during the war of the Titans and the gods. That war lasted ten years, and by its end, Poseidon claimed the sea, while Zeus took over the sky, and Hades ruled the underworld. The image featured today is an HDR of the exterior of Poseidon's Fury ride at Islands of Adventure theme park in Orlando, Florida. The 'ride' is actually an indoor special-effects show complete with fireballs, gushing waterfalls, and a tunnel of pulsating water. Initially, I thought the show was rather boring, but it quickly picked up. By its completion, I thought that it was definitely a great experience. As I was taking photos of the ride's exterior, a couple of people noticed my camera and wondered why I was taking more than one shot of the scene. I explained to them how the HDR process works (i.e., this shot is composed of three bracketed exposures), and gave them a verbal link to my photoblog. I don't think most people realize what one can do with HDR, so I don't hold back in telling others something to the effect of 'Wait till you see the result I am going to come up with; it will be like nothing you've ever seen in your life.' |
