I've decided that this week at Erudite Expressions will be solely dedicated to HDR photography. I've tried to have an HDR week on this photoblog before, but I failed to sustain posting seven consecutive HDR photographs (either for lack of fresh ideas or because something more interesting came up at the time).

I've already post-processed seven HDR images which I will be posting over this week; the only remaining work left to do is to put the finishing touches in Photoshop CS3. I am already very happy with some of the results I have achieved, and I think this HDR work will represent some of my favourite recent work relating to photography.

Starting off today: bicycles parked near the ocean at Daytona Beach. In this scene, the beach is less than two hundred feet away toward the left. I thought the HDR technique would work here because of the vibrant oranges of the (half) surfboard and the sidewalk. There are some distracting elements in the image, such as the tracks seen in the right half of the frame; also, the scene would have looked less cluttered if there weren't any cars in the distance behind the bicycles (of course, this scenario was outside my control). This isn't an amazing HDR by any means, but I think it's good enough to start off this week. I hope you come back to check out what else I'll be posting throughout the week.
