Continuing the series on St. Petersburg, today's image is somewhat lighter (in terms of erudition).

The day which I captured this image was a stressful one for me because my SLR (temporarily) broke earlier in the day. It was a strange experience because it wasn't that the battery died (I put in a fully charged battery in the morning and the camera was unresponsive about an hour later; also, putting in the battery would not activate the blinking yellow light to indicate the battery has been inserted and recognized). Nothing I tried restored the SLR to working order, so I ended up shooting for most of the day with a point-and-shoot camera (an interesting experience indeed).

By late evening, I was still shooting with the point-and-shoot camera, and I captured this image of not-so-touristy people traversing the streets of St. Petersburg on their rollerblades. This was one of the last images I captured with the point-and-shoot camera before heading back to the hotel. Miraculously, while fiddling with my camera that evening, it became operational again. Just in time too: a few hours later I would be exploring the city of St. Petersburg as part of a midnight tour. I'll post two images from the midnight tour in the coming days.
