![]() If you've been following this photoblog this week, you might have noticed that the theme has revolved around food and restaurants. Initially it was my intention to post shots from different locations throughout the world, but I ended up being biased toward the sights from Riga, Latvia. The images began inside a candy store, followed by a view of a McDonalds, continued by a scene of outdoor dining, and finished with an image of a captivating corner. Well, I thought I'd put up one more image which I captured in Riga. In some ways, I think this is my favourite shot from the ones I posted this week, not least because it feels so quaint. This particular restaurant is pretty small. The outdoor section of the restaurant is also small (but it doesn't feel cramped), taken up by just three tables. As I was thinking about how to frame this shot, I decided to include the lock - seen in the right side of the image - as part of the frame. It may be distracting to some viewers, but I think it gives a sense of space. Imagine that in the same plane as the lock is a fence, and outside the fence is a cobblestone street of old town Riga. I won't disclose the name of this restaurant to keep the mystery alive, but a well-known fact about this quaint little restaraunt is that many former Latvian presidents have dined here. |
