![]() As I was walking toward the dock seen in yesterday's entry, I stopped by this little corner of the world where the shade was plentiful and the waves were gently lapping against a rock. What is interesting about this scene? First, I like the circular waves undulating away from the rock in the bottom right corner. Second, there is a visible change in the colour of the water as one moves away from the shore and further into the Gulf of Finland. Finally, because the latitude of this location is rather far north (near the 60 degree latitude line, which is equivalent to the southern tip of Greenland), the curvature of the Earth is readily visible from shore (notice the curvature as you pan from the left center of the image toward the center and then to the right). |
