![]() Today was an adventurous day in the Great Smoky Mountains. Upon finding out that the main road (Highway 441) through the Great Smoky Mountains was re-opened, it was time to switch to low gear and traverse this beautiful park. The temperature outside was in the low 20s, so most of the snow that fell a couple of days ago was still on the ground. Traveling from Gatlinburg, TN via Highway 441 into North Carolina, one experiences an elevation gain of around 3,500 feet. This picture was taken in one of curvy portions of the road (click here to see the map). What I like about this scene is the way the light bounces off the upper portion of the trees. I also like how the bridge adds an interesting element to the image. I spent about an hour editing this image, in which the primary post-processing challenge was to remove all the cyan/blue tones in the snow portions of the original image. |
