After classes today, I traveled to Joshua Tree National Park with twelve other students. What was to be an approximately two hour drive turned to a four hour drive because of massive congestion on the freeways. After we got to our campground, we went along a short hike to explore our surroundings. This picture was taken shortly after 5PM, which was a great time to shoot. In the foreground, of course, is a Joshua Tree (Yucca brevifolia), while in the distance is the town of Yucca Valley.

After the short hike, we returned to our campground and had a great dinner (under the stars). We then made a campfire and roasted marshmallows. Before heading to bed, I observed the night sky for about an hour. During this time, at least four meteors briefly lit up the night sky. It was an awesome way to end the day.
